The San Francisco Aeronautical Society is pleased to announce the SFAS Scholars Program, in recognition of the historical contributions made by the many legends of aviation. Scholarships are open to high school seniors attending a public high school in one of the following school districts: San Francisco Unified School District, San Mateo Union High School District, Jefferson Union High School District and Sequoia Union High School District. Applicants must be anticipating completion of a high school diploma at the time of application, planning to pursue a degree at an accredited post secondary institution and carrying a minimum 3.0 G.P.A. at the end of their junior year of high school. Applicants must submit an application and a single-sided, two page (maximum), double spaced biographical essay on a legend of aviation. The San Francisco Aeronautical Society will grant three scholarships totaling $4,500 annually.
Eligibility Requirements:
1. Applicants must be current high school seniors attending a public high school in one of the following districts: San Francisco Unified School District, San Mateo Union High School District, jefferson Union High School District, Sequoia Union High School District.
2. Applicants must be anticipating completion of a high school diploma at the time of the application, planning to pursue a degree at an accredited post secondary institution and carrying a minimum 3.0 G.P.A. at the end of their junior year of high school.
Required Attachments:
1. Applicants must submit:
• a completed application
• a copy of their official transcript
• a single-sided, two page (maximum), double spaced essay on an aviation legend and their contribution(s) to aviation.
Notification/Additional Information:
1. Winners will be notified with a phone call between April 1 and April 15, 2013. All winning essays of the SFAS Scholars Program Scholarship will be published in the San Francisco Aeronautical Society’s Newsletter, FAM14.
2. Winners must submit a copy of post secondary institution registration/acceptance prior to issuance of check.
